Dauphinoise Potatoes

Simply said, this potatoes are delicious!! Potatoes Dauphinoise is a French dish made with layers upon layers of potatoes, cream and gratinated cheese.


This is the perfect side dish, with a few simple ingredients you can make something so amazingly good.



Servings: 8


Ingredients:


5 large potatoes (do not use waxy potatoes)

1 large onion

2 cloves of garlic

250 ml of heavy cream

1 handful of freshly grated Parmesan or Gruyere cheese (separate in two)

Olive oil

2 bay leaves

1 pinch of nutmeg

Salt

Fresh cracked black pepper


Preparation:


Preheat the oven to 180°C - 350°F


Wash and peel the potatoes, then slice very thinly. Use a food processor or a mandolin if you have them.


Peel and mince the garlic and julienne the onion.


In a large baking dish (35 X 25 cm approximately) add the sliced potatoes, julienned onion, minced garlic, heavy cream, half the Parmesan cheese, bay leaves, pinch of nutmeg, drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper.


Using your hands quickly mix all the ingredients together, make sure that all potatoes are well coated. Grate over the dish the other half of the Parmesan or Gruyere cheese.


Cover the tray with aluminum foil and put in the oven for about 1 hour. Using a knife or a toothpick test to make sure the potatoes are soft,


Remove the tin foil and let it bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is golden brown and the potatoes are bubbling.
